Privacy

Short version: we collect very little about you. We don't sell data, and we don't do ad tracking.

Your IP address

We look up your country from your connection transiently, only to suggest the local edition for you. We do not store your IP address, and no third-party lookup service sees it — the lookup runs on our own servers, using a self-hosted copy of the DB-IP Lite database.

Polls

Reader polls are anonymous. We count one vote per device per poll and show results in aggregate. We don't tie a vote to you, to your account, or to your reading history.

Email and notifications

  • Email (such as the daily brief or story alerts): we use double opt-in. You confirm your address before we send anything, every message has a one-click unsubscribe, and we cap how many we send and respect quiet hours.
  • Web push (browser notifications): you opt in through your browser and can revoke permission any time. Push stops as soon as you turn it off in the browser or in your account.

We only use your contact details for the things you asked for.

What we store

  • Preferences: your chosen edition, the topics you follow, and your notification settings.
  • Account details, if you create one — your email and nothing more than you give us.

We don't sell, rent or share personal data with advertisers.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from anything at any time, and you can request the deletion of your account and its data.
